LCR-Reader-MPA: All-in-One Multimeter
New LCR-Reader-MPA features a full redesign, Available in 0.1% basic accuracy, 3 test signal levels and better LED testing
After a year of availability, Siborg Systems Inc. has recreated their Multipurpose tester and released the LCR-Reader-MPA.
This new model features a record high 0.1% basic accuracy and a wide range of features not found on a tweezer-based multimeter, including: LED/Diode testing, oscilloscope mode, AC/DC voltage/current measurements, frequency meter, super large Capacitance measuremets, continuity/open testing, signal generator, 100 kHz test frequecy and more.
The LCR-Reader-MPA follows the same tried-and-true factor of Smart Tweezers and LCR-Readers' before it: sturdy tweezer probes combined with a lightweight multimeter tat provides fully automatic measurements with just a touch. When a component is between the tweezer probes, MPA will autmotaically determine the type of compoentn and best test paramaters before measureing wit a 0.1% basic accuracy. MPA then displays all measurement values instantly, including the main impedance value (LCR) and any secondary values (ESR, Q or D) as well as the component type and test parameters used.
MPA sets itself apart from other similar devices with it's high basic accuracy and wide range of features, incuding LED/diode tests, short/continuity testing, frequency and duty cycle measurements, AC/DC voltage measurements, pulse counting, signal generator and more. The main features that set the MPA apart including a wider range of test frequencies (100, 120 Hz, 1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75 and 100 kHz.), Large and Super Large Capacitances up to 640 mF. MPA also tests electrolytic capacitors are automatically measured at 120 Hertz while ESR at 100 kHz according to regular electrolytic capacitor test conditions.
One of the main features of the device is the ability to test using 100 kHz test frequency; this allows for a 0.1 nH resolution for inductace measurements and 0.001 F resolution for capacitance measurements.
Siborg's updates to the device include a new look, lighter weight and more stable tweezer arms. The bright blue housing is easily seen on crowded work stations and the new displays offer better readability in low light as well as large characters and icons. The backlit LCD display offers high contrast and is easy to see, in even poorly lit situations. Siborg has included the option of a grey display or a black display. The jog-wheel navigation was replaced with a 4-way joystick button which makes it easy for users to change basic test functions directly from the default screen.
The Oscilloscope mode is used for testing voltage waveforms on active circuit boards, using frequencies up to 100 kHz. This is especially useful when using the LCR-Reader Kelvin Probe Connector which turns the MPA into a low-frequnecy probe station.
Siborg included 3 test signals in the updated model; 0.1, 0.5 and 1 Vrms. The ability to test at 1 Vrms is important for testing ceramic capacitors accurately. The devices' slide switch for voltage measurements was replaced with an automatic relay switch. LED test voltage was increased to 3.2 Volts and the signal source resistance was reduced to 100 Ohms which allows for better accuracy while testing larger capcitances and smaller resistances and inductances.
Bluetooth Enabled Module
LCR-Reader-MPA has an Optional Bluetooth Module coming soon. The device will connect with Microsoft Windows to record measurements in real time over a low-energy consuming connection using the required dongle.LCR-Reader-MPA Manual
